Cats of the Art Shoppe #2

Some Art Shoppe artists have passing acquaintance with cats — others are fantastically inspired and ruled by them. Sometimes, it may be hard to tell the difference.

Pamela Kirton’s Cats

Once a fabric designer, Pamela Kirton has taken those fabric designs into the 21st century. She has a family of cats created with some of those designs using digital pieced patchwork. (Roosters and owls, too!). Catboy (the drawing) is watching you. Click here to learn more about her bird art.

Peter Elvidge’s Cats

Peter Elvidge is a pixel artist. What’s that? With extremely limited vision and up-to-the-minute-technology, he makes his art one pixel at a time. Some of his images have millions of pixels, and he is the Guiness World Record Holder for two images with the largest number of pixels (800,000 +) in record time.

Yes. One. Pixel. At. A. Time.

Susan Gainen’s Cats

Managed by Max-the-Cat, Susan Gainen paints Max and his friends. Some of them appear in New World of Cats: Max the Cat and His Friends (at Amazon and in autographed at The Art Shoppe). The Blue Cave Cat (below) is on the a panel that was part of the Lost Cave Paintings of Saint Paul installation at the 2013 WARM (Women’s Art Resources) Protege Show.

Cats of the Art Shoppe #1

Many Art Shoppe artists are unabashed cat lovers, and they enthusiastically create cat images. Most of the artists are kept (ruled, bossed) by cats who direct their photography and participate in their art projects. This is the first Cats of the Art Shoppe post. More will follow!

Of course these images are for sale!

Kim Buell’s Cats

Neither of these cats belong to Kim. The Black and White cat belongs to a neighbor who has more than a dozen. This is the only one willing to pose. The Cat The Shadow belongs to her friend Bill.

Kip Shane’s Cats

Bastet — the City Kitty, has the most astonishing green eyes. Unless, of course, you find Bella’s eyes mesmerizing. Kip has both a magic camera and two cats eager to pose.
