Johnna Morrow
Johnna has been developing her artistic skills for several decades. She has explored her creativity in varied artistic modalities, including pottery, printmaking, textiles (weaving, textile design), photography, drawing (oil pastels, pen & ink), painting (watercolors, acrylics), batik (on eggs and fabric), fused and stained glass, and digital media. She is currently working with acrylics in dot mandala, flow painting, and alcohol links. Her newest venture is digital design of mandalas and pattern making. This work manifests in many forms from canvases, rocks, and tiles to prints, jewelry, and ornaments.
Johnna’s work is continually evolving and expanding. Her vision is inspired by natural forms, movements and patterns, and flora and fauna. This influence is expressed in her landscapes, cross-sections, and reflections of time-engaged observing the natural world. She has been drawn to the practice of developing mandala geometry: the play of arcs and angles, interconnecting woven lines, the contrast of black and white, patterns and color, and movement inherent in the circle and the square. Johnna has held dozens of instructional classes in mandala painting, teaching others how to find relaxation with this meditative art form. On a larger conceptual scale, these works are a playful representation of the multi-dimensional nature of our existence and our attempts to find harmony within and without. She is keenly interested in the creative process and how sound, movement, and meditation open us to exploring our creative potential, finding inner peace, and expanding our consciousness.
